Pursuit Crash Damages Patrol Car and Jeep in Taos
A late Saturday police chase ended in a collision at Richie's Drive-In on Paseo Sur. Dean N. Lujan, 19, of Vadito, was cited for DWI after his Jeep struck the patrol car and Richie's intercom system, causing extensive damage estimated at 3,600 to 4,000 dollars to the restaurant and over 100 dollars to the Jeep. Police officer Damaso Martinez and passenger Steve Gonzales were unhurt. Martinez was pursuing a vehicle with no taillights when the crash occurred about 11:45 p.m. The captain said no action against Martinez as he followed emergency procedures.
