Virigilio Trujillo chair Taos County Road Planning Committee says majority of board agrees with Highway Commissioner Wayne Collins to junk a high level bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge. He favors improving existing routes serving Pilar Taos Tres Piedras Arroyo Hondo areas and a shorter two-project path.

Worried about mice this fall stop worrying Tans Animal Shelter offers kittens of various colors and sexes plus adult dogs and pups available for adoption. Highlighted are male and female cats and dogs including a purebred greyhound, a seven month old female, eight week old sheep dogs, and a hunting hound pup. Visitors urged to interview the animals and be chosen as master. Altitude Sickness Tips for Taos Visitors
Taos attracts visitors to 6950 feet where thin air may cause high altitude sickness. The New Mexico Heart Association advises rest before travel, a good meal before departure, light activity, bed rest when symptoms appear, and gradual acclimatization to reduce discomfort. People with heart or lung disease can tolerate 7000 to 8000 feet if the transition is gradual. Individual responses vary widely.
