Taos County budget ends with 1980 81 fund balance

Taos County commissioners heard that the general fund closed June 30 with a balance of 62,238.26 and a carryover of 89,467.38 after using 91.61 percent of its budget. Expenditures exceeded budgets in law enforcement, elections, landfill, ambulance, and property assessment. The ambulance line ran 4 357.64 over and 104.91 percent. HUD housing aid saw 21 certificates cancelled in the last month and 1,160 families dropped in six months as HUD changes rent rules.

Taos appoints Elaine Powers as new parks director

Assessor Senalda Vigil notes DFA in Santa Fe forwards tax revenues to counties. 20,770 taxpayers exist, with 6,844 residential and 6,394 nonresidential.
