Woman Dies In Fiery Angel Fire Crash

A Beechcraft Bonanza crashed near the Angel Fire golf course killing Ann Barrow and injuring Paul Fitch Cathy Fitch and John Barrow. Witnesses say the plane failed to gain height after takeoff at 3 30 pm and struck two mobile homes engulfing them in flames.

Two employee unions at Holy Cross Hospital call for sweeping changes in administration including ending Brim and Associates contract and pursuing new ownership. The 27 page plan by consultant Carol Miller urges board resignations of inactive members and a radical strategic shift to ensure hospital survival amid rural health care crisis. Hospital administrator Leigh Cox dismissed the recommendations as crap while board chair Alfredo Vigil called the document insulting. Vigil says Marks and Associates may raise funds to build Taos Regional Medical Center and that Brim’s role would shift if a new developer starts over.

Taos Sees 96 Degree Sunday Heat And Cooler Forecast

High in Taos reached 96 on Sunday with a 42 degree low. The July 6 to July 8 forecast shows a slight chance of afternoon and evening thundershowers with highs in the upper 70s to 80s and lows in the 40s to 50s.

Arson Suspected in Taos Pueblo Office Fire

An arson investigator was due to examine the July 3 blaze that damaged Taos Pueblo Governor Ernesto Luhan’s offices. Fire officials labeled the cause suspicious and said a federal ATF agent would handle the probe. Officials barred photographers and offered few comments as authorities assessed the incident.

Stabbing Death Probed in Taos County Bar Fight

The stabbing death of 22-year-old Paul Mascarefias Jr., son of Taos deputy sheriff, remains under investigation after a June 29 incident outside Julio's bar near Rodarte in Taos County. His brother Eric Mascarefias, a Petiasco High wrestler, survived. funeral services held at St. Anthony's Church with burial at Picuris Pueblo Cemetery.
