Brim and Associates signs an eight month interim contract to manage Holy Cross Hospital in Portland Oregon. The board chose Brim from six proposals to pursue a long term plan and possibly a new hospital. Brim will present a long term plan by December 31 and aim to break ground next spring.
Billie Blair Brim and Associates backs Taos for resort retirement growth via a housing arm and a hospital nursing home plan. Vice president Doug Atkinson, from Oregon, envisions new industry, infrastructure, and resort expansion, with Brim aiming to expand Holy Cross revenue rather than cut services. Brim runs rural hospitals including Jal's 15 beds and Las Vegas's 66 beds, and operates 35 facilities across the western U.S.
Seven sheep are dead and ten others unlikely to survive after stray dogs attacked Bonifacio Martinez’s 38 sheep corral in Camino del Medio. Three dogs mauled 32 sheep. two more were trapped and killed. Martinez estimates over $1,000 in losses. County officers warn owners to leash, pen dogs and register with the county clerk, and plan area patrols.

Jonathan Sandoval nearly fourteen will be sent to Springer Boys' School for his role in the Pueblo Alegre break in. Three other youths Trujillo Montoya and Mascarenas were sent to the Youth Development Diagnostic Center in Albuquerque for evaluation. they may return to Taos for Springer or probation. Judge Caldwell told Sandoval there is no place else for him. Merchants suffered losses from the June 11 break-in. owners install burglar alarms. The trio admitted 14 acts including five counts of burglary and larceny totaling $1000 in cash and beer.
Frank Jaramillo, 35, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide for a crash that killed Boyd Buffett, 24, and injured Peri Denena after a .30 blood alcohol level. He received 18 months in prison with two years parole, six years max possible, plus 200 hours community service and restitution near $20,000 to the Buffett and Denena families.
In Taos last week 87 degree highs and 49 degree lows were recorded. The National Weather Service forecasts partly cloudy skies with afternoon and evening thundershowers through the weekend, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 40s.
