About 30 Rodarte residents met to organize a local leadership group for the Immunity Center project. CAP funds about 500 have been invested to renovate the building, with completion planned this Fall and further plans to develop programs in Rodarte and surrounding Taos County communities led by Carlos Lopez.

NM Forester to Accept Car son National Forest Markers
El Camino secretary Helen J Vincent and other state officers are listed in regional leadership roles. William D Hurst Regional Forester of the Southwestern Region Forest Service will accept the markers located on the Carson National Forest under a cooperative agreement with the CAR.
Merker Dies in Santa Fe Former Forest Supervisor
Clarence A. Merker a former Taos and Carson National Forest supervisor died in Santa Fe on June 24 at age 70 after a lengthy illness. He served 40 years with the US Forest Service before retiring in 1961 and also supervised Coronado National Forest in Tucson. Private services were held in Santa Fe and cremation followed in Albuquerque. Memorials were requested for Bede's Episcopal Church building fund.

The Four Corners Regional Commission awards 97,350 to reconstruct a three mile link of New Mexico State Highway 3 in Mora County near the San Miguel County line. The project also receives 290,879 from the Department of Transportation and 122,178 from the Highway Commission, making a total cost of 450,1417.

Wallner Will Remain In Red River Area
Mike Wallner, former manager of Red River Ski area, said this week he will stay in the Red River area to operate his lodge and fishing business. He noted last week’s Taos News report about him leaving the area was incorrect and added he worked at the ski area through November 1968.
