Taos County investigates Gurulé Cinnamon dog shooting

Taos County Sheriff Charlie Martinez says animal control officer Lawrence Gurulé is on administrative leave with weapons removed while an internal probe continues. Gurulé shot Cinnamon the dog in front of a 16 year old owner. the dog died next morning after running home. A Friday work-study session will address the incident and Sheriff use of the old National Guard Armory. Commission Chair Gabriel Romero noted guns were taken, a 9 mm handgun and a department issued rifle. The panel voted 3-0 to discuss the matter and related issues at the meeting.
