Trees On Taos Highway Face Pruning Or Replanting
The Highway Department may prune or uproot trees along the Taos highway project and plant new trees after construction. Construction began last week and the New Mexico State Police in Taos urge extreme caution at the site where one injury accident has occurred. Last year two Taos men died in a traffic crash in the same area, with numerous non fatal incidents reported annually.

Pueblo youth shooter suicide reported by BIA officials
Officials of the U S Bureau of Indian Affairs reported that a Pueblo youth shot himself in the bedroom of his home after returning from a Taos movie. The 20 gauge rifle bullet killed him instantly and lodged in the ceiling. The shooting occurred Saturday night at about 11 30 p m and was only reported at 2 30 a m Sunday. Dr David Ashman Taos said death was instantaneous. The service was conducted by Msgr Sigmund Charewicz with Father Thomas H Hesnan directing funeral rites. Family and close friends arranged the funeral.
