Council vote on Taos town administrator corrects tie claim

In The Taos News, Mayor Phil Lovato clarified that the council’s first vote to hire town administrator Carlos Miranda passed, not tied. Executive session notes show councilmen scored five finalists. City signs panel grants Moynihan variance on Thunderbird sign

The planning commission approved a variance allowing Terry Moynihan of Taostan to keep a neon Thunderbird sign over Paseo Norte, while ordering removal of eight to ten nonconforming signs. Gulf Station proposals by Herman Weisentiner were denied variances for Paseo Sur and Gate Road locations. Blake's Latta Burger and two El Prado and Paseo Sur drive ins received multi year compliance timelines. Ed Lineberry’s Kachina Lodge nonconforming signs were to be reviewed Feb. 11 with photographs requested.
