Taos Council Halts Mobile Home Sewer Approvals

Taos Municipal Schools present 33 works from the Taos art collection at the Stables Gallery January 28 to February 10. The exhibit, organized by Taos High School humanities students with Taos Art Association support, was board approved on January 10 as a worthwhile project. The show features pieces by O B Berninghaus Emil Bistrom Dorothy Brett Andrew Dasburg Nicolas Fechin Ward Lockwood Agnes Martin and other Taos masters, dead and living, selected by Thom Andriola Ken Drew and student committee. A reception runs January 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. with student co hosts.

Taos County eyes dumpsters to cut landfills
Taos County explores using Dempster dumpsters as a partial swap for landfills. County Manager Samuel Montoya said the Environmental Improvement Agency will study feasibility and 50 percent funding may cover costs. A successful system could reduce county landfills to three and direct refuse to central sites for compaction. Arriba Counties and Santa Fe Rio plans noted.

Pinon fuelwood sales halted in Penasco District
District ranger Chuck Bazan announced a moratorium on selling green pinon fuelwood in the Penasco area while a forest management plan is developed. Demand has reduced supply. meetings will explain the plan, and interested buyers should leave their names at the district office. Green pinon remains available in El Rito Canjilon Tres Piedras and Jicarilla districts.
