Men Fined On Knifing At Chifle Lounge in Questa

Three men were fined 50 dollars each by Questa Peace Justice Irma Robinson for a knife attack at the Chifle Lounge in Questa on January 2. Police say Eddie Archuleta, 24, and Paul Archuleta, 30, were involved with George Ciarcia, 29, of Castilla, during the incident. Garcia allegedly used a knife to escape, with Eddie suffering a 4 inch stomach cut and Paul a 1 inch cut. The trio faced public affray charges.

Driver Cited After Accident Near Montoya Radio Shop

A Tapsman driver, Sean McCrady, 26, struck a wall on Ran chilos Road near Montoya's Radio Shop around midnight Friday. He was treated at Holy Cross Hospital for dental injuries and released. Police cited him for reckless driving, no driver’s license, and driving while intoxicated.

Angel Fire Club advances a 25,000 acre development near Eagle Nest named Monte Verde Country Club and Angel Fire Ski Basin. Taos Board approves two year contract for Supt. Otero

Taos Municipal Board of Education unanimously offered Supt. Joe L. Otero a new two year contract and a salary raise to align with similar size districts. The raise will be fixed with the 1966-67 budget after consulting the state school finance division. Otero, who has led Taos schools 19 years, said he will continue efforts to improve education within financial limits while building programs proceed. The board also approved Head Start and bus contractor changes, named Fred Martinez assistant principal, and accepted the Taos Municipal Education Association as the bargaining agent.

New Mexico taxpayers may use a state sales tax table as a guide when filing 1965 federal returns. Printed in the instructions for the first time since 1960, the table reflects a 1966 Bureau of Labor Statistics spending study and shows average state sales tax paid by residents. It omits auto taxes, which may be added separately. Taxpayers may still deduct actual taxes if preferred.

Vehicle collision report details injuries after hit and run

Drennan reported Griego driving over 70 miles per hour and striking Mrs Cordova from behind. The car traveled an additional 168 feet after impact, injuring the woman with severe head and leg trauma. Two juveniles were passengers in Griego's car, per Drennan and Officer Orlig.
