Conservationists press a last minute nationwide mail campaign before Sunday to urge Congress to expand wilderness acreage as recommended by the Forest Service in the 1978 RARE II study. Carson National Forest analysis covered 167,980 acres with 46,081 acres proposed as wilderness additions. Supervisor Jack Crelin proposed new lands near Wheeler Peak Latir Peak and Pecos Wilderness northern flanks.
