Himes Patents Solar Design For Heat Absorbing Wall
Taos contractor John W. Himes has had his solar heat absorbing and radiating wall invention accepted for patenting by the U.S. Patent Office. The design improves on the Trombe wall by using double pane glass, air gap, a black metal plate, six inches of concrete, and embedded metal shafts to transfer heat into interior air. Himes built a working model near Plaza de Retiro, seeks partners for full-size use.
