City official Lucero notes Paseo del Pueblo Sur sees about 3000 vehicles daily, arguing that most central town traffic stems from in-town drivers. He cites clustered public facilities including supermarkets, courthouse, and high school, with plans for a social services office and state police HQ in the same neighborhood.
David N. Perovich was elected president of the Taos County Merchants Association on Feb 16. Also chosen were Zeke Tapia as VP Edward Miller as secretary and Chris Mondragon as treasurer. The group pledges open communication with the Taos Chamber of Commerce and plans a Feb 23 candidate forum at the Kachina Lodge.
Pete Sahd Taos County Republican chairman calls a mass precinct county convention for March 10 at 7 pm in Taos Middle School auditorium. Precinct delegates will caucus to select eight delegates for the state nominating convention in Albuquerque in April. Taos executives plan to meet earlier at 6 pm to set rules. attendance open to all Republicans in the county. local officials Juanita J. Cordova Juan I. Valerio and Juan F. Romero are noted.
