Taos Ski Valley could host a community based snowboard park on O.E. Pattison Family Trust land. Roger Pattison envisions a 500 acre north facing park draining into Hondo Creek offering access for families and possibly opening next ski season if partners or buyer join.
Taos firefighters battled a 4:50 a.m. structure fire at Ike's Auto Repair on Randall Lane triggering a propane tank explosion and total loss of the building with several vehicles. No injuries reported. a mobile home and a nearby structure were saved. A second call at 7:35 a.m. at State Road 240 prompted mop up by TVFD crews. Fire Chief Fambro and Assistant Chief Driskill, both previously injured, are in recovery with ongoing surgeries planned.
Pennero Associates Inc, a Pennsylvania based owner of national credit collection firms, will shut its Taos call center. Local leaders courted the firm with a five year lease incentive funded by Taos and La Jicarita Community groups. The 10,000 square foot facility at Kit Carson was built to house 150 seats and opened in spring 2001 amid mayoral fanfare.
Questa police charged Benjamin Gurul e with failing to report and failing to investigate child abuse related to January 2003 allegations at Questa High School. He is to appear in Questa Magistrate Court on Feb 24.
