Fires Sweep Taos in Double Blaze at Ike's Auto Repair
Taos firefighters battled a 4:50 a.m. structure fire at Ike's Auto Repair on Randall Lane triggering a propane tank explosion and total loss of the building with several vehicles. No injuries reported. a mobile home and a nearby structure were saved. A second call at 7:35 a.m. at State Road 240 prompted mop up by TVFD crews. Fire Chief Fambro and Assistant Chief Driskill, both previously injured, are in recovery with ongoing surgeries planned.

Pennero to close Taos call center ending local boom
Pennero Associates Inc, a Pennsylvania based owner of national credit collection firms, will shut its Taos call center. Local leaders courted the firm with a five year lease incentive funded by Taos and La Jicarita Community groups. The 10,000 square foot facility at Kit Carson was built to house 150 seats and opened in spring 2001 amid mayoral fanfare.
