Taos wrestler sidelined by one car crash
Taos High senior Michael Barry Silva, 119 pounds, is in satisfactory condition at Holy Cross Hospital after a Monday night single car crash on State Highway 3 in El Prado. He suffered a broken leg and facial lacerations, ending his hopes of reaching the district wrestling finals this weekend. State Police cited Silva swerving to avoid a left turning car, and Taos Volunteer Fire Department used a Hurst tool for extrication.

Juveniles Committed to New Mexico Boys School
Two 16 year olds involved in a January 5 burglary and larceny at the Ice Cream Parlour in Taos were committed to the New Mexico Boys School at Springer after closed juvenile hearings before Judge John B. Wright in the February district court session. One commitment was suspended with relocation to relatives in California under probation rules. the other, a parole revocation, followed a burglary and armed robbery in 1976 with an extended stay beyond one year from a 1977 hearing. The latter teen was on parole from the school at the time of the Taos incident.
