A car burst into flames with Brandhal inside and Mrs. Mares covering his burning pants with her coat to smother the blaze. Firemen said their rapid actions averted serious burns. The vehicle had been bought the day before.

A policy advisory committee of Taos County Community Action Program representatives will form on February 18 at 7 p.m. in the County Court House. Chair Andres A. ALBUQUERQUE More than 875 New Mexico veterans have applied for re opened National Service Life Insurance. A May 2 deadline applies to disabled World War II and Korean veterans whose policies lapsed or who did not obtain GI insurance. Various plan options exist with premiums due with applications and guidance available from the VA regional office in Albuquerque. Some veterans rated zero percent service connected remain eligible for the program.
Taos Animal Shelter announces Dr Larry Butterfield is on two week vacation. William Kopi will reside at the shelter 24 hours to care for strays and boarders.
