A Taos area man, Ramon Arroyo Ortiz, 27, died after his 1970 Chevrolet Malibu left State Road 570 and plunged 230 feet into the Rio Pueblo gorge. Passenger Raul Eslias, 22, escaped with minor injuries. Ortiz was reportedly driving at high speed and not wearing a seat belt.
