Plaza de Retiro, a long standing Taos retirement center, plans a move from upfront entrance fees to a sliding scale monthly rent to attract new residents and meet costs. Four units will qualify for Section 8 housing once approved, while current residents keep existing rates. Construction of two new casitas has halted as credit tightens.
