Operation Bear Den bears new hope in New Mexico
Conversation among bear hunters activists and the Department of Game and Fish advances a novel bear management trial in New Mexico. Twenty five orphan cubs will be placed in artificial dens across Carson and Gila forests with ear radio transmitters to study survival and movement. Support comes from Safari Club International and the New Mexico Council of Outfitters and Guides. Corporations and groups funded den transmitters while Taos Pueblo and the U.S. Forest Service joined the effort.
