Area projects promise more jobs in Taos region
The North Central New Mexico Economic Development District reports two major efforts will boost Taos area employment. A $1 956 000 Arroyo Seco Twining road and water sewage works will create about 400 jobs linked to Taos ski and tourist projects, plus access to timber areas. An $1 084 000 grant funds part of the highway, while Eagle Nest water and sewage work is expected to employ at least 128 as Moreno Valley Lumber expands, with new motels and tourism growth. Molybdenum Mines in Questa aim to raise output to 14 million pounds, creating additional jobs as diamond drilling expands ore reserves near the Log Cabin zone six miles from the main pit.
