Thief Steals Liquor At La Dona De Taos
A skinny thief broke into La Dona de Taos on Monday night August 6 and stole about $1,000 in liquor and cash including the night’s receipts. Police say the burglar sawed through iron bars and pried the window with a crowbar to enter the recently reopened restaurant. Owner Ouray Meyers noted the thief took whatever was reachable from the bar and was “pretty skinny” to fit through the bars. Crimestoppers offers a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Town considers street tax for municipal improvements
Town residents will vote on a special gross receipts tax ordinance on Sept. 138 to fund street drainage work including sewer and storm sewer repairs. If approved, the tax would be one half of one percent of all gross receipts in town and support curb, gutter, and sidewalk projects in Placitas near the school property, per Town Manager Carlos Miranda.
