Wisconsin horseman rides 2200 miles to Farmington NM
Jacy Wiegert, 36, travels by horseback from Wisconsin to Farmington New Mexico, passing through Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. He camps in barns during blizzards, earns funds with odd jobs, and plans a two and a half week rest for his three horses near Farmington. He recalls hospitality from saddle friends and regrets not jotting down every acquaintance.

Burglary Suspect Arrested After Home Break-In
Mike Marcus, 18, of Tas Pueblo, was arrested April 7 after breaking into the Gonzales home in La Loma through a sliding door. He dived through a bedroom window when confronted by Hilidio Gonzales, was tackled by Manuel Rivera until police arrived, and was found with a $100 to $125 Hishi necklace. The Gonzales home sustained $275 in damage. Marcus is also linked to an April 7 break-in at Dr. Dan Salter’s office where an alarm deterred theft.

Visitors totaled 961,600 in 1981, vs 1,871,000 in 1978, with a slight rise from 846,000 in 1980.
