Taos Plans for Plaza Trees and WPA Landscaping
Taos moves to remove six scarred trees after a blaze left them barkless and fragile. Three on the west side near the center sidewalk and three cottonwoods between the band stand and east rail to be removed, while old cottonwood along the south rail remains. WPA Plaza Improvement begins, a 2500 dollar project with most funds from the government, plus local costs for trees. A crew fills the plaza with earth and flags, with two flagstone sidewalks to entrances. Spring planting will add bluegrass and nearly a hundred dollars worth of trees.
