Placitas Road improvement moving toward bid with minimal land takings. The project, a bypass between South Santa Fe Road and Highway 3, spans 36 feet including rights of way and gutters. Estimated cost about 86,000 dollars with 28,000 funded by the state and 60,000 by the town.
Taos High School athlete Wayne Coca set a school pole vault record with 11 feet 3 inches at a quadrangular meet hosted by Espanola. Taos placed second with 48 points. St. Michael’s won with 53. Espanola took third with 42. Santa Cruz had 17. Detter and Chavez placed in hurdles while Goodyear led field events with 106 feet 6 inches in discus. Tigers host Taos Relays next Saturday with 14 schools expected.
Eleven Taos students earned Dean's Honor Roll for the winter term at New Mexico Highlands University. Named were Larry Lundy John Gaillour Vivian Gaillour Telesfor Gonzales Roselyn Rael Luis Trujillo Lorraine Mondragon Alberto Miera Marcella Miera Diana Martinez and Michael Martinez for achieving a 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Town Manager Nestor Gallegos said about 40 percent of residents subject to occupational licenses had not applied yet. The April 30 deadline remains, he noted, with roughly 389 licenses issued to date.
The ancillary executor of Viola by Kinney deceased was appointed March 1972 in Taos County Probate Court. Creditors must present their claims within four months of first publication, to the attorney Stanely Witt and Quinn, Santa Fe, NM, or be barred by law.
