Pueblo seeks talks with Taos County over funds and boundaries
Pueblo seeks annual cash payments to prevent losses to the County School and Road Funds. Two Men Fined For Fishing In Antonito Colorado
Two Antonito men were fined for fishing out of season and without licenses after being stopped on Los Pinos Creek on April 3 by Fish and Game Officer Carl Berghofer. Espanola justice of the peace Elenio Maestas fined Victor Alfonsi Jr. $20 and Benicio M. Trujillo $50 for the charges. Berghofer noted neither man had fish in possession as they had just started fishing when approached.

New federal rules cut Job Corps waiting to one week for male applicants aged 14 to 21 from low income or welfare families. Applications go to Albuquerque centers or State Employment Service offices. approval now happens there and a physical is no longer required.

The annual State Student Council Convention was held March 24 25 in Hobbs with over 200 students from across the state. Delegates from THS were Yolanda Chavez Tommy Fernandez Linda Jaramillo Erlinda Lucero Felix Miera and Dinah Sheridan. Sponsor Bonifacia Termundex accompanied them as assemblies and panel discussions filled the agenda including a foreign exchange panel with students from Italy Brazil Colombia Switzerland Holland South Africa and Japan. Dr George Minties Maresmor High School Denver Colo delivered the main address on Seven Keys to a Successful Student Council. Taos led a panel on The Responsibilities of a Student Council to the School and Community. Petix Miera led the discussion with attendees from Roberton High Alamopardy Laux Junior High Zuni and Belen. Back in Taos High plans include new ideas from the convention. Next year is slated for Santa Fe.
