County to auction delinquent land April thirtieth list
County warns owners of delinquent lands that unless 1964 back taxes are paid by April 30 the property will be turned over to the state in May. The state will hold it for three years before public sale, keep 20 percent of proceeds, and the rest goes to the county Sale of Land Fund. The list, dated April 3, excludes Tres Piedras and Carson Estates owners and names Taos and other area individuals and firms across multiple states.

Suspect Herrera mortally shot after standoff at Arroyo Seco
Authorities report Rodolfo Herrera, wounded after a confrontation with police, remained conscious and declined to answer questions. He was transported to Holy Cross Hospital for a tracheotomy after which prosecutors consider first degree murder charges if he recovers. Funeral set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church Arroyo Seco with burial in the church cemetery.

Funeral services were held April 1 for Beneraldo P. Cortez who died March 28 at Holy Cross Hospital. He was 23 and a Taos resident. Fr Manny Alvares presided at St. Francis Church Ranchos de Taos with burial at Pacheco Cemetery. Rosaries were March 29–31 at Evergreen Chapel. Pallbearers: Gutierrez, Pacheco, Martinez, Mondragon, Pacheco, Pacheco. He is survived by wife Arturo Cortez three children Rose Mary Arturo Jr and Eddie, parents Alfonso and wife, a sister and three brothers. Hanlon Funeral Home arranged the services.
