Dr S J Potts a prominent Tabor City dentist has entered active army service and is assigned to the Sheppard Technical Training Wing at Wichita Falls Texas He left Tabor City September 1 and sent a note asking the paper to update his address to Texas and to ensure he receives last week’s issue.
The Brunswick Electric membership corporation plans September and October meetings led by E. D. Bishop to discuss mutual problems and community relations. Larry Ashby former executive secretary of the Tabor City merchants association and Tribune editor has been called to active duty in the Navy. He recently was in San Francisco and will fly tomorrow to the Far East to be attached to the Far Eastern Command as a lieutenant. He said he would send his address as soon as known.
Mt Olive school holds a box supper Friday night September 22 with cake walk fishing and games. Proceeds from box sales and cake walk will fund a school lunch room. Mrs J L Winstead invites all to attend at 7 00 PM.
Tabor City leader Mrs J C Singletary was elected president of the Tenth District Federation of Woman's Clubs at the Fairmont meeting. She succeeds Mrs W H Stewart Jr of Maxton as vice-president, with Mrs Homer Avant of Whiteville as vice-president and Mrs Smith of Wagram as secretary and treasurer. Officers begin duties in 1951.

Third Annual Carolinas Yam Festival planned for Tabor City October 12 13 and 14. Committee chairs urged to attend September 21 7 30 at American Legion to finalize program and print circulars. Events include parade pies and sweet potato judging bazaar queen crowning floor show and lectures by agricultural specialists. Friday features music and football Ta bor City vs Clinton. Saturday night big wind dance bingo and a carnival sponsored by local groups.
