Escapee Oben Sellers Nabbed in Florida by FBI and Sheriff
Obie Sellers 52, once a top North Carolina escapee, was captured in Bartow Florida by FBI agents and local sheriff. He escaped Ashe county prison camp August 9 1949 after serving 30 to 37 years for armed robbery breaking and entering and store breaking. He had previously been jailed in Eastman Georgia before fleeing nine days after incarceration.

Three Men Die In Thanks giving Wreck Near Whiteville
A head on collision on Highway 130 six miles southeast of Whiteville killed Gordon Ward 53 and Edward Ward 30 of Little River S C and Odell Yates Sellers 44 of Supply. J P Ward 28 of Little River was injured critically with a fractured leg. A fish truck collided with a lumber truck at about 430 PM. The wreck blocked the highway for about 90 minutes. Prison Camp helpers cleared debris. Beach dinner party noted at Crescent Beach cottage later that day.

Highway Dept approves bids for two Horry road projects
In Columbia on Nov 16 the State Highway Department approved two Horry county road projects. Kraft and Newell of Florence won the contract to bituminously surface 7.8 miles, costing just over 100000 dollars. The routes include 3.4 miles on road No 44 from Route 76 to Route 9 at Dufford and 3.8 miles on road No 69 from Route 9 near Mt Olive church to Route 917.
