Corporal Watts Receives Bronze Star for Korea Heroism
Robert H. Watts, son of Mr and Mrs Raymond Watts of Tabor City, is awarded the Bronze Star for heroism on 12 August 1950 near Yongsan Korea. With the 14th Engineer Combat Battalion he aided a wounded officer under heavy fire and carried him to safety before returning to the outpost. He is 24 and has served nearly three years including time in the Far Eastern theater before hostilities began.
