Twin Cities CAP Field Day Sunday
The Twin Cities CAP Squad will hold a field day on June 4 1968 at Twin Cities Airport on Country Club Road. Funds raise for cadets to improve and buy equipment and training aids. Tickets cost one dollar with prizes from a vacuum cleaner to a toaster and more, plus ten free airplane rides. Drawing at 2 PM. tickets sold by squadron members and at the airport. Public invited to observe and attend.

Strawberry Festival Crowns Queen In 1960 Celebration
About 30 000 visitors attended the Strawberry Festival in Chadbourn with Janet Sutton a former Miss North Carolina crowned Strawberry Queen during the gala ball intermission. A mammoth parade followed as Margaret Moore won a new automobile from the Merchants Association. Princess titles and other contestants were noted, with Gayle Lame presiding over the Princess Ball Friday night.

Local High School Lad Horace Nobles Dies In Truck Crash
Horace Nobles 17 of Tabor City died early Sunday en route to Chapel Hill after a pickup truck wreck near Tabor City on Emerson Road Saturday night. Jerry Soles was treated at Columbus County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at Tabby Baptist Church with pallbearers from the football team. Nobles survived by parents Mr and Mrs Nobles and several siblings and relatives.
