Eleven Candidates Competing For Miss Columbus Title
From seven to eleven contestants remain in the Miss Columbus pageant race as preparations quicken for the April 15 event. Jaycees of Tabor City coordinate a countywide color program while inviting dignitaries, including Miss Hannah Ek from the Miss North Carolina pageant, to attend. Betty Huneh of Wonmans’s Greenshots emerges as a noted dancer, with national exposure likely as she debuts on local television. Three Injured In Hallsboro By Automobile
Three pedestrians from Hallsboro were injured Sunday after a two car collision on the highway. Betsy Rouse 60 suffered a broken pelvis. Frank Alford Wilson 7 had a broken right leg and Fannie Lee Wilson 47 also suffered a broken right leg and internal injuries. The State Highway Patrol report states Ada Deele Jenkins 47 Bolton drove a 1949 Chevrolet that started onto the highway after being parked on the shoulder and was struck by J. C. Hines 28 Lake Waccamaw in a 1958 Chevrolet. Jenkins then swerved and hit the pedestrians on the wrong side of the road. Hines was cited for reckless driving and the three injured are residents of Hallsboro.

The annual WMU meeting of the Columbus Baptist Association will be held Thursday March 31 1960 at Evergreen Baptist Church starting at 4:00 PM and adjourn at 9:00 PM with supper served by the host church. Meeting urged for area farmers to discuss spring planting
All area farmers planning to plant produce this spring are urged to attend a meeting at Gree High School Thursday night at 7 30. Phil Cromkhite of the Horry County Fur Market in Sorts announced the event at Pope Air Force Base. Airman Jack Soles from Tabor City arrived at Pope for duty with the 404 Supply Squadron after a tour in Kimyo Korea and prior service in England and Labrador.
