Two Killed in Wreck Near Loris and Bennettsville
A Saturday highway crash on Highway 9 near Loris left James Puckett 32 of Tass City and Walter Myers 30 of Bennettsville dead at the scene. Betty Sigoer, a young woman, was seriously injured and rushed to Community Hospital with internal injuries after one car hit deep water and skidded. Investigating officer Metts said the water may have been a major factor as both vehicles collided head on. An unidentified witness said a spare tire fell from one car as the crash occurred.

Death on Two Highways Routs Fatal Crashes in Columbus County
Two separate wrecks last night near Chadbourn and Nakina claimed two young men and a teenager. Oxcar L. Willis 40 of Bladenboro and Albert Davis 20 of Boardman died in the head on collision near Chadbourn. In Nakina Robby Ward 17 was killed when a pickup rear ended his car. Ralph Osborne 15 was injured. Investigations focus on speeding and driver behavior. charges were filed against Harry Reeves.
