Creosoting Plant Boosts North Carolina Timber Profits
The General Creosoting Company near the Carolina sandhills expands bulk production of treated heart pine and other timbers. A dense operation with its own rail line, it produces 40,000 board feet daily, treats fence posts, cross ties, and poles, and foresees rising demand from electric lines, marine piling, and housing as plantations grow and rural electricity spreads.
