Josh Norris, 73, was killed Saturday noon when an automobile driven by John Thomas Nobles of Chadbourn struck him on highway 701 two miles from Tabor City. Norris was walking on the left shoulder when a jeep had halted on the opposite side and Abe No started across the road, stepping into Nobles path. State officials ruled the accident unavoidable and no inquest will be held. Coroner Hugh Nance and Trooper W. H. Allen investigated. Norris leaves three daughters, and funeral services were held at McPherson cemetery.
