Coroner's Jury Finds Triple Deaths Due To Reckless Driving
A coroner's jury in Henderson County concluded that W E Shipman colored driver of the car responsible for the July 1 crash near Conway caused the death of three Cox children and recommended further investigation. The Cox family, returning home from tobacco work, were struck on Route 9 as they headed toward Loris. The victims were Hettie L Cox 14 Roger Cox 17 months and William Davis Cox 11. Six others were injured or recovering. Probate records show Shipman to be held until the October court session unless bond is posted.

Funeral for James Long Held at Dothan Methodist
Funeral services were held Monday at 1 o'clock from the Dothan Methodist church for James Long who died Saturday night. The local elected secretary Verna Graham of Tabor City was elected for the coming year at the annual meeting of the Colored District Conference, a five–county body, held at Chevy Grove Baptist Church in South Whiteville. Williams of Whiteville was named president and Mrs. M, state field worker of Raleigh, spoke as guest. The Church of God band from Dillon will perform at the Pubor City Fire Baptists church on Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m. Public is invited. Mrs. E. G. Baldwin hosted her brother J. L. Armstrong and Mr. Armstrong who visited Myrtle Beach today.

22 Year Old Negro Man Killed Here Saturday
A 22 year old Black laborer named James Levy was shot and killed by a white man, Lewis Lewis, in Tabor City on Saturday after a store dispute. Lewis surrendered to police and was released on a $5,000 bond pending an inquest in Columbus County. The incident followed a curfew-related argument after Levy entered the shop to order beer.

New Church To Be Completed Within 60 Days
