One Day Operation Announced For Local Cannery
S L Jackson director announced the Tabor City Cannery will operate on Thursdays only until further notice. The schedule had planned Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August but vegetable shortages made a two day operation unjustified. Hours are 8:00 to 12:00.

Dust Peanuts To Control Leafspot Diseases
Columbus County peanut growers are urged to begin dusting their crop for leafspot control using copper-sulfur dust with 4% metallic copper plus sulfur. Apply by July 10 at 18-20 lbs per acre, every two weeks for three applications. reapply if washed off. Demonstrations 1949-1951 show copper-sulfur improves yield compared to plain sulfur and undusted plots, with profit advantages per acre. Dusting also improves hay yield and quality enough to cover costs.
