Potato Exhibits to repeat at 49th Yam Festival
Representatives from the Tabor City Merchants Association and the Tabor City Marketing Association with rural experts planned for the Yam Festival. The joint committee decided to repeat sweet potato exhibits and add new displays by State College. Plans call for about twenty two or three exhibits covering every phase of sweet potato cultivation and processing. The three hour conference marked the first in a year long series, with further details to follow from October through the festival date.

Mrs Lydia Singletary Williamson, mother of Mrs A C Edwards of Tabor City, died in Lumberton on Tuesday afternoon Nov 30 after a brief illness. Yams and Fairmonts Battle to 6-6 Tie in Tilt
Tabor City Red Yams and Fairmont All-Star eleven tied 6-6 on the Tabor field Sunday afternoon before about 500 fans. Fairmont led early in the second half after a scoreless first half, then Yams back Kalaf scored on a reverse from the yard line as Billy Skipper, Curt Jacobs and Chuck Kalas powered the drive. Plans Completed For Cantata Here In Tabor City
The Christ dias Cantata will be performed Thursday night December 16 by the Loris Choral Club at Tabor Baptist Church. Box Supper Raises Funds For Church
Members of Iron Hill Baptist church raised between $1,600 and $1,700 at a box supper last week for the new building fund. A quilt by Mrs. Herman Hewett sold for $10% a bottled drink $8 a $10 bill $45 a pumpkin $3.50 and an axe donated by Marvin Soles $25. Boxes donated by church ladies sold from $14 to $85. The total brings the fund to about $6,000.

Funeral Friday for World War I Hero Corporal Sterling Harrelson
Funeral services for Corporal Sterling Harrelson will be held Friday at 3 PM at Mount Tabor Baptist Church. He saved a life in World War II, served as radar technician with the El Al Air Transport Troop in Italy, and is survived by his parents B C Harrelson Sr and Faye MeLe, plus two brothers. The family mausoleum burial will follow at Far Lawn.
