Kenny Jordan Resigns From Triple A Post

D. H. Kenny Jordan, a member of the Columbus County AAA committee since 1933, resigned his post and the resignation was accepted by the State AAA committee. Derham Family Donates Library to Green Sea School

On J P Derham’s birthday, the Derham family funded a memorial library at Green Sea high school. The collection includes World Books, Carl Sandburg Lincoln volumes, R E Lee by Freeman, a Pulitzer work, The March of Time by Adams, yearly additions, and about 200 fiction titles. Derham, called the father of Horry County schools, helped pass the bill establishing local schools.

Marshal Cox Station Robbed Near Ta bor City

The sheriff's office investigated a robbery at a combination service station residence about six miles from Tabor City toward Guideway near the South Carolina line. Thieves entered Sunday night and took a strong box with valuable papers and about $200 in cash from Marshall Cox's business.

Plans For Commencement Exercises Given By TCHS

Rob Gore of Vinegar Hill shot seven large snakes that invaded his front yard on Sunday morning. He killed two or three with a shotgun, then finished the job with a neighbor’s rifle. A taxi carried the snake show man away, losing his act after snakes fell from his truck earlier that day.

Guideway 4-H Dress Revue Winners Named

The Guideway 4-H club held its regular meeting on Monday April 12. The dress revue crowned Betty Colins 1st, Carolyn Cox 2nd, and Lillian Lane 3rd. Judges were Miss Maude Butler Mrs Thurmond Butler and Mrs Dick Gore. Carolyn Cox reported for the club.

Shirley Faye Simmons five month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Simmons of Clarendon Route One died Friday morning after a short illness in Murlin hospital. Funeral held Saturday at 11 at home Rev Eric Gaskill officiating. Burial in Simmons cemetery. Survived by parents two brothers Wayne Larry Dale and two sisters Lois Betty Gale.
