City Legion Auxiliary Elects Officers at Meeting

The City American Legion Auxiliary announced new officers and discussed funds. Members addressed holding a $10,000 raven and noted many members present were not in attendance as they accumulate dues.

Chadbourn Minister Ormand Resigns for Marion Pastorate

Rev. Ben F. Ormand, pastor of Chadbourn Presbyterian Church for eight years, resigns to accept the pastorate at Marion Church in Marion South Carolina. He asks Wilmington Presbytery to dissolve the pastoral relationship and will preach his final sermon on Easter Sunday before moving with his family to Marion. He is known in Tabor City for recent meetings at the local church.

Easter Cantata at Saint Paul City High School

Funeral of Wanda Sue Gantt Held After Infant Death

Rev. P. C. Gantt attended the funeral in Statesville this week for Wanda Sue, four week old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Gantt. The infant died Monday night and services were conducted Wednesday morning at eleven.

Art Exhibit Opens At Night In Tabor City

Officials announced a display of about 150 paintings at the Tabor City School auditorium from Thursday night through Friday. The public is invited, and proceeds will be used for painting improvements in the school.

The annual Easter Seal Sale will be run by students of Tabor City School Friday and Saturday with a kickoff at the school. Spotlighters Present Overtones at Chapel Hill Drama Festival

The Spotlighters Club of Tabor City High School presented Overtones at the Chapel Hill Drama Festival Friday. Cast included Hettie Nell Garrell Harriett Caroline Jackson Maggie Marjorie Williamson Margaret Margaret Poston. Directed by Miss Laura McInnes. Delegates Jean Peay and Flake Hewitt attended for Spotlight Thirty-nine plays from North Carolina schools. The group plans to perform two plays in Tabor City on May 2.

Local Girl Chief Marshal at East Carolina Teachers College

Christine Strickland of Tabor City was named chief marshal for the 1950 1951 term at East Carolina Teachers College. Sixteen women students were chosen as marshals from 33 candidates to serve as ushers at college programs and entertainments.

Fidelis Class of Mount Tabor Holds Church Party

The Fidelis Class of Mount Tabor Baptist Sunday School held a Tuesday evening party in the church recreational room after an attendance contest. Losing teams entertained the winners, with Mrs Grover Harder as captain of the losing side and several named members aiding in hosting and refreshments. About 29 attended.
