Braybrook Shire mulls Sunshine borough proposal

Sunshine Town Hall Hosts G U O O F Annual Social

The Sunshine Town Hall hosted the G U O O F annual social with 270 invited members from the local branch. H Blakey organized the event with Littlewood as master of ceremonies. Grand Lodge officers present included Henrickson Coulter and Grant. Presentations were made to Alli son and Richer. Miss Phylis Green and Mr Percy Wail performed. Supper was served in two sittings. the function was praised and planned to be held biannually, with the next in March.

Ratepayers Sued by Shire Collector in Wraybrook Court

Ratepayers sued in Thwrlay's court by Shire of Wraybrook rate collector R E Burnett for about 60 cases seeking 437 pounds total. One defendant claimed wartime service and cancelled contract terms. others objected to interest. An elderly defendant cited promised work offset that never arrived. Chairman G W Pennell deferred further action, with summonses pending.

Sunshine Golf Club 2s Triumph Over Visitors

The Sunshine Golf Club hosted a match against Werribee with nine players from each side. Sunshine won the men 9 to 3 and the women 8 to 1 as trophies were presented by Mr. McDonald to Mrs. Morrin and Mr. Williamson. A Masonic Hall dance followed with prize presentations and plans announced for upcoming mixed foursomes events.

Accident Averted by Quick Action in Hampshire Road

Senior-Constable Clive Rom on duty in Hampshire road halted a car approaching railway gates after noticing a three year old girl on the running board. Driver Mr G J Parker claimed no awareness of the child. the girl remained calm and was returned home unharmed.

St Albans Mothers Club Euchre and Dance Success

Our St Albans correspondent reports a successful Mechanics Hall euchre party and dance hosted by the Mothers' Club with Miss Meen ey's orchestra providing music. Prizes went to Mrs Hales and Mr Dickson. Monte Carlo winners were Miss Herrick and Mr Whee shan. Future events include cricket club dance and Girl Scout social, with plans for a school bell restoration and an Ugly Man competition featuring Mr McRae, Dr A Dickson, and Mr Le Self. Mr Lotge of Boundary has been admitted to Alfred Hospital after surgery and is expected to recover.

Dr Charles Byrne Appointed Medical Officer of Health

Dr Charles Byrne was appointed Medical Officer of Health for the Shire after the resignation of Dr John Adiamon who served twenty years. Byrne trained at Xavier College and Newmar College, Melbourne University, earning MB and B Sorcery with high honors in 1923. He previously served at Mater Public Hospital Brisbane and practiced in Culgon before purchasing Sunshine practice and holds multiple district medical roles.
