Robinson Named Post Office After City Engineer

The Gunshine Council proposed the post office on South Road be named Robinson after city engineer Mr. H Robinson. Earlier suggestion East Sunshine was deemed unacceptable by the department, leading to the honorary naming.

Sunshine Lions prepare huge Bonfire Night at Sunshine Park

The Lions Club of Sunshine insured for £1000 plans a large bonfire as part of a Guy Fawkes night at Sunshine Park next Friday. The event supports charity including Sunshine Hospital with material collection this weekend and a mobile crane to build the blaze. A fireworks display funded by local firms, a barbecue bullock display by butchers, fancy dress parade, on stage interview with Charlie Sutton and Footscray Premiers, free stage entertainment, dancing, lucky wheels, and a call for burnable material to be donated to Dr N Green.

Defendant Fails to Remember His Disgusting Language

The case concerns Clive Royston Hartley of 4 Kenneth Street Maidstone. Constable O'Shaunessey testified he was called to Ashley Street and Churchill Avenue at 3 am last Sunday where he met the defendant's wife and daughter. on approaching the house the defendant shouted indecent words. Hartley, who had been drinking, offered no memory and pleaded mercy. The Bench, led by Mr T R Barclay J.P., deemed the language positively disgusting and imposed a fine of £3 or seven days' imprisonment.

A public meeting convened by Mayor Dr J Castley will be held at Sunshine Town Hall tonight to discuss forming a local appeals committee for the Red Cross. Col Spowers of Red Cross headquarters is among the speakers.

The Sunshine Scottish Society Braybrook Social Club and Victorian Railways employees back a mayor led appeal for immediate financial help for the McLean family of four in Maylandia Street Sunshine. The late Mr Stanley McLean died after illness. donations welcomed via the Town Clerk with acknowledgments in the Advocate. Several sums charity already received from railway staff and local officials.
