Mayoress Hosts Reception at Town Hall Wednesday

Sunshine town hall will host a reception on Wednesday November 1 at 2 30 pm for Mayoress Mrs J W Cantley and Mrs J B May ores. The meeting follows a petition from residents about a local factory causing dust and fumes with calls to extend abatement measures and install improved dust collection and a new stack to reduce emissions. The council debated responsibility, economic impact, and steps needed to protect nearby homes while the company offered to install additional equipment and seek expert trials.

Red Cross Appeal Committee Formed

A local Red Cross appeal committee was formed at a public meeting held last Friday. The committee is headed by the Mayor with Mrs D Malachlan as deputy chairwoman and Mrs J Wheelahan as secretary. Mr T W Deutschmann serves as treasurer. The group aims to hold a snap beat for one month each year.

Extra Morning Train Adds Runs From St Albans

Morning Extra Train to run from St Albans at 6.32 am with Albion departure 4.36 am and Sunshine 6.38 am starting November 1. Railways cite rolling stock and crown shortages as reason against further improvements while the union debate continues led by Mr Peter Baker of Albion.

Bunabine City Council Considers Bus Terminal Plan

An adjourned Bunabine City Council meeting discussed 40 year buses causing headaches and the need for action. Cr Dobson urged a conference with traffic officers and police to plan measures, including possible land acquisition for a bus terminal and relocating parked vehicles near the RSL clubrooms.

Mannequin Parade Supports Sunshine Hospital

A Fashion Fiesta at Sunshine Town Hall featured an Indies auxiliary parade with four mannequins displaying Australian and overseas apparel and furs to aid Sunshine Community Hospital. The event, organized with Woods Modern Store and Kayser Pty, showcased outfits as Mr B Coppack served as entry counter and funds were raised for hospital needs.

Unveiling of H V McKay Memorial Gates Ceremony

The unveiling ceremony for the H V McKay Memorial Gates will be held Sunday November 14 at 3 pm at Barclay Henerve entrance. RSL War Memorial to be Unveiled on Sunday

The RSL War Memorial in Dickson Street grounds will be unveiled Sunday at 10 am by Ft Co. Mallee. A wreath is planned at the town hall, followed by a march to clubrooms led by the Sunshine City Band. The simple memorial bears the inscription Greater love hath no man than this.

Bonfire Night Draws Big Crowd for Lions Club Charity

A large audience is expected for a community bonfire at Mun town hall tonight. The Mayoress Mrs. J Castley will light the bonfire at 8 15 p m. A fancy dress parade departs at 7 15 p m. All proceeds go to charity via the Lions Club.
