Napoleon and the Grand Army Column at Boulogne
A writer recalls Boulogne 1805 1806 preparations against invasion and Napoleon’s army on the cliffs above the city. He contrasts British resilience with continental tyrants and notes two modern figures seeking to use air power to threaten Britain. The piece ends reflecting on Napoleon as the Lilac Corporal and the enduring English spirit.
