Tragic loss of Barrie Raymond Opie at age 4
Deepest sympathy extended to Mr. and Mrs. 8. Thomas of Sharps Road Tullamarine on the death of their youngest son Barrie Raymond Opie aged 4 years 7 months after a short illness. Barrie was the fifth generation of the Opie family of Deer Park and won a prize with his Shetland pony at the Royal Melbourne Show. The funeral at Footscray Cemetery featured the pony leading the cortege with riding boots reversed in the stirrups, with pallbearers named and a large floral tribute collection.

Frederick James Baker aged 75 died at Phoenix St Sunshine on Thursday of last week. He was born in Faversham England and was a retired Master Mariner. His wife and six adult children mourn his loss. The funeral was held Saturday from his home and the remains were interred.
