Disappearance of funds from Nettiefoldy Sports and Social Club led investigators to suspect an insider. A trap using invisible powder on safe keys exposed a thief named Spackman, charged at Footscray court and remanded until Thursday. About £40 missing.
The Hine District Band will perform a programme of selected music in Sunshine Gardens on Sunday afternoon. The public is cordially invited to enjoy a pleasant afternoon. Recital begins at 3 pm.
A public meeting at Sunshine Town Hall formed a committee to raise funds for the Nicholls family of Braybrook. Goals include securing a house, furnishing it, and providing clothes, with a dance planned to boost the fund. Cr A Lowe chaired, Cr ALG Pennell secretary, ME George Cranwell treasurer, and other members named. Donations totaling several pounds were collected from locals and sustenance workers, with further contributions and channels for donations announced.
At the Sunshine Court this morn, Imen Guthrie of Leonard Street and A. C. Nunan of Ballarat Road were fined £1 for riding unlighted bicycles.
Desert Chief named to run in the Williamstown Cup at Altona Trial hurdles. Sweet Spear Agathviles and Streamline Matable confront Evening Mist with Swynstead also among best each way bets in a field featuring Ozone and Welter.
A Sunshine band outing to Warran tutw last Sunday drew about seventy riders and spectators. After games and races the band discussed with Warrandyte General Purposes Committee, earning an invitation to perform a recital and marching display in Warrandyte within a month. A further picnic date will be announced.
This afternoon the annual bazaar at St Mark's Church of England was opened in Sunshine Town Hall by Mrs W Angliss. A grand display of goods at the stalls drew many compliments. The bazaar closes tomorrow night with a grand dance at the town Hall. Details are advertised.
The first heat of the district Parma Waltz Championship is set for Monday night at Nettlefolds Hall. Details of conditions appear on page 8. Bray Brookshire council holds its regular meeting Monday evening next.
A Saturday night celebration honored Miss Misa Elsie O'Donoghue turning twenty one at Our Lady's Parish Hall Sunshine with Br Roberts band providing music. Guests included Dr and Mrs Farrow Ferntree Gully Mr and Mrs Abbot Bronawick and many local residents as the hosts toasted the guest and her parents amid supper and a short sketch.
At the Keilorshire council meeting Dr Stevens sought updates on the proposed water supply. Dr Stenson of the water trust offered a stark report saying nothing decisive could be announced. Engineer Mr Walters noted a conference with the Board for one day this month.

Investigations follow after two Melbourne schoolboys Harold Heylen and Sylvester E. Lismore, both 14, are lured by a motorist in Mount Alexander Road. The car takes them around the Royal Showgrounds to Deer Park before releasing them near a Sunshine police station. They are safely returned home after authorities coordinate with Flemington police.
Victor McDonald of Adelaide Street faced Sunshine court over a motorcycle lacking a proper silencing device. Constable Power reported hearing exhaust noise along Hampshire Road on October 1. McDonald claimed the bike was new to him and unchanged since purchase. He paid a fine of sixpence.
