Selections and club news from Sunshine Golf and Horticultural Society

The Sunshine Golf Club honors Mrs C A Hiscock for selections in the season and notes Mrs H Morris won the top prize. Local and General Highlights From Parnni Wally Event

At the Parnni Wally championship held last Saturday night in Nettlesford Hall Mel Smith and Mise Leheny won the event while the popular vote went to Mr tn and M Hyett. Judge George Centre demonstrated dance steps and advised war couples on improvements. Cootes and Mins Toots Daw performed old time dances to general amusement. Nettled fored plans a local championship and an East Sunshine district fox trot event is being arranged. The annual court for renewals in Sunshine will be held on Fridays December 4 and 11 with forms from the clerk or police station. J H Wales of Mount View Road Malvern was fined 20 for driving with no tail light, George Lohman fined 20 for a car with one headlamp, James Brown fined 16 for a damaged spare button. Mrs A Lowe will host a reception at Sunshine Hall on Thursday November 3.

Transport Minister Visit Sparks Local Railway Site Talks

A deputation from the shire council and progress association met Minister for Transport Me A L Bussull and officials including Hon G M Prendergast and Mr Lynch to discuss railway area improvements near the Town Hall. They proposed land handover for municipal offices or, failing that, a car park and garden area with a modern fence along the street frontage.

Death of Mrs Rose Annie Eliew beth Tong in St Albans

Residents mourn the death of Mrs Rose Annie Tong of St Albans, widow of Albert Tong, a longtime public worker. Ill for two years, she was a Kent native who moved to Australia in 1924. The funeral proceeded to Watscray cemetery with clergy from St Albans Church of England presiding. The Tong family and local groups sent wreaths and patients and schoolchildren lined the procession.

Sunday School Anniversary Services At Baptist Church

The Baptist Church marks its Sunday School anniversary with guest speakers from South Melbourne Methodist and local groups. An anniversary concert follows on Monday November 16 with visiting artists and scholars, admission free with a fund offering.
