Ex Dr W R Parsons and Mrs Parsons were celebrated at Shire Hall Keilor by over 150 residents and friends. They praised 16 years of municipal service and presented Parsons a comfortable easy chair and a handbag for Mrs Parsons while colleagues gifted him golf clubs.
On October 16 Miss Shoobridge gave a talk at the school on children's meats using films and shorts to illustrate points. Parents' Day drew about 160 attendees who praised the children's work. A working bee covered library books with brown paper and another is planned for November 15. The club donated 15 pounds to buy new books, and 600 books will be covered with volunteers pitching in.

Members of the Dads' Association will visit patients at Mount Royal R S hospital on Sunday next November 12. A large attendance is desired. Members should catch the 2.22 p.m. train from Sunshine.
Residents of Sunshine learn that Mr Jack Mullens MLA is confined to his bed and has cancelled all engagements for the time being. He has been very energetic recently, and this has affected his health. The hope is expressed that he will soon return to normal health.
The Roman Catholic Archbishop Melbourne His Grace Dr I Mannix DJ will visit Our Lady's School next Sunday November 12 delivering speech in main hall. The school has faced overuse of pres polition and temporary expedient measures, now addressed by permission for two extra classrooms and new education facilities welcomed.
A November meeting of the Sailors Soldiers and Airmen Watchors Association Sunshine branch discussed forming a local ladies auxiliary to work with the Dads in servicemen matters. About 60 ladies attended. a new auxiliary was approved. Officers include President Mrs S A Carlile and Secretary Miss J Baker. The next meeting is November 15 at Sunshine Town Hall with invitation to female relatives of servicemen.
Les Libbis Sunshine Garage announces it has not ceased business and will continue serving hundreds of satisfied clients. It offers petrol, oil, battery charging, and all car and truck equipment. The repair shop portion is now operated by Mrs. Ogilvie.
Nominations closed for the Bulla Dalhousie by election with five candidates: Saunders UAP Webster UCP Homin ALP Cumming Ind and A G Pennell Ind Dr Albert Vennell heads a well canvassed committee drawing support from unexpected quarters. The 11000 electors span Sunshine to Upper Macedon Romsey Broadmeadows Kilmore and Broadford. Preference likely decides the result in this open contest.
Mr A K Saunders, endorsed United Australia candidate, spoke at Keilor and Sydenham ahead of his Kilmore unit launch on Thursday November 6. Despite small crowds, he highlighted postwar duties, water, electricity, fodder conservation and a plan for efficient resource use for the Allied war effort and a return to Parliament with experienced leadership.

Joan May Barkla and Leonnett James Scott wed at Sunshine Methodist Church on October 21 with Rev H W A Michell officiating. The bride wore white silk net, bouquet of roses and fall-toned attendants wore lemon crepe, the couple hosted breakfast and reception at the Masonic Hall, Sunshine.
Deer Park School Committee held a successful bazaar to raise funds for the new school opening after Christmas. Stalls offered afternoon tea groceries cakes fancy goods and flowers. Competitions judged by Mrs Reeves and Mrs Durham featured homecraft items and other prizes. A younger set river trip is planned for tomorrow evening with Krazy Nite next Thursday music by Vic Mathey and a final competition night completed Monday.
An Education Week finale at Shire Hall featured lectures and films on education reform in Bingham area schools. Sunshine Technical School girls choir performed. Dr. G. Dobson praised the effort, with thanks from Dr. Barclay and local officials. Also noted is the upcoming marriage of Romo Pauline Howell to Edward William Thies at St Luke's Yarraville tomorrow at 3.05 pm.
