Braybrook Council split over land use near Westmoreland Road

At Braybrook Council, a motion by Dr McDonald to allow non residential use on unsubdivided land near Westmoreland Road sparked a heated debate. Proponents argued for industrial or housing needs, while opponents warned of undermining zoning. The vote ended 6 to 6, decided by President Dr A Pennell’s casting vote.

Braybrook Council to send doctors to Melbourne planning conference

Braybrook Council will send Drs Pennell and Treloar to a June conference on coordinating planning and development functions for Greater Melbourne. The council also approved £70 grants for coke heaters at Selwyn Park reserve and similar grants for Braybrook and Maribyrnong reserves pending suitable heater purchases.

A Parlor coach will run from the Sunshine P.O. at 1.45 p.m. tomorrow for the benefit of patrons attending the Footscray versus Melbourne match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Braybrook Fo grade players are told the bus will depart for Williamstown from the usual place.

Local Hospitals Receive £100 Each From Ball Fund

The Shire President Dr A G Pennell and Mrs Pennell funded the Ball at Sunshine Town Hall. Proceeds from tickets and donations were shared between Sunshine Community Hospital and Footscray District General Hospital. Cheques for £100 were given to Ex-Dr W J Pridham and Dr T R Barclay.
