A chance meeting of Braybrook council members at the Shire Secretary’s office caused concern among absent members. Dr Pennell read urgent items needing action from the last meeting, questioning why spalls, cloth for a table, tenders for fencing, tree damage notices, and a fence were not addressed.
The council, after hearing inspector J Jasper, resolves to attend to drains at Morris and Benjamin streets. The report notes treatment and repair steps to address the drainage issues in the area.
The council approved removing the corner trough at Ballarat roads and planned the Drayton Bros porcelain works first annual picnic to Eltham on Saturday March 22 led by President EB Dr and secretary H W McDuff. The Sunshine Horticultural Society autumn show is set for Tuesday April 22 from 3 to 6 pm with schedules soon ready.
The local Fathers' Association branch met in the 728.6.1.L.A. room with Harry Thompson chairing in the absence of President Munro. A council letter outlined Blackburn picnic plans for the 8th inst. The billiard tourney Dads v Diggers was won by the Diggers. A Nixon report from Melbourne conference discussed main business, noting omitted items from Lake Bolac and Kinnersly remarks. A card tournament Dads and mums v Diggers and Indy partners was set for a future date.
Braybrook Football Club will hold its annual meeting at Braybrook Hall this month. A good attendance of members and players is anticipated as the club reviews prospects for the coming season.
The Australian Ladies World Tour Scottish Pipe Band will perform at Sunshine Gardens on Sunday March 30 to boost the Sun shine Soldiers and Sailors' Distress Fund. Admittance by silver coin collection.
